GIS KL Dragons Sports Teams

SEASAC Boys Tennis

On the 31st of January the Senior boys Tennis team travelled with Mr Bannister and Mr Fernandes to Bangkok to take part in the annual SEASAC Tennis tournament hosted by NIST.

The standard of tennis at this event was, as always, extremely high and very competitive as schools from all over S.E.Asia brought their strongest teams. GIS was in the tougher side of the draw and so had to face both Bangkok Patana and UWC Dover at the group stage. Despite impressive performances from our players, particularly from both Klarence and Ken Saw in the singles we failed to beat Patana and UWC and so did not make it in to the last four.

In the playoff for 5th place GIS again faced tough opponents, and despite victories for Ken and also in the 2nd doubles pair we eventually came 6th in the tournament. Considering the standard of play this was an impressive achievement for the GIS team and all players should be commended for their effort, enthusiasm and competitive nature whilst representing GIS. A special mention should go out to Klarence and Ken Saw who both received ‘All Star’ Awards for being the best players in their categories of 2nd and 3rd Singles respectively.
