GIS KL Dragons Sports Teams

GIS Dragons U15 Rugby

A very well done and thoroughly deserved victory went to the team with tries being scored by Jack Allan, Matthew Saunders (2), and Ian Hamad. Jack also converted one try to make the final score 22 – 10.
The game was played over 3 x 7 minute periods, with the Dragons opening account being made by Matthew who played with his usual level of ambition and determination. This was quickly followed by a second Dragons try as the team exploited some poor play by KTJ. In the second period KTJ came back strongly scoring twice, once with a counter attack from a turnover by Dragons and on the second occasion following some loose blind-side defence. Dragons did, however, manage to score again in the second period and to convert a try to maintain a 17 – 10 lead. It was clear from this period that the momentum had swung to KTJ, who continued to play with ambition utilising an effective off-load game.
With all to play for in the final third, and following some serious Coaches advice during the interval about the importance of the next score being critical to the outcome of the game, the third period got underway. Following the restart a loose kick by Dragons to the KTJ winger saw him run the length of the pitch for what appeared to be a certain try. Pursued by Matthew and Yohgerndrra Jothy this indeed was the turning point of the match…as the KYJ wing was tackled 1 metre short of the line, and with his momentum carrying him into the in-goal area further determined defence by both GIS players prevented the player from grounding the ball. The 5 meter scrum restart was superbly won by the Dragons forwards and Jack Allen sniped up the blind side to relieve the pressure and then put in a clearing kick to take play towards the half-way line. Shortly after Dragons scored their fourth try to seal the game.
The whole Dragons squad were used during the match with every player making a contribution to the victory: Danish Samsudin-Bakker, Yohgern, Cameron Kerr, Fintan Cook, Ian, Jack, Dan Watson, Aidan Menon, Hadif Fadzil, Marcus Wong, Rafi Abilawa and Matthew.
Also a big thank you to our hosts at at KTJ, the game was played in great spirit with discipline passion and respect.
