Dragons Golf 2 Sept

Friday 2nd September marked the first session for our Senior Dragons Golf team at TPCKL. They were joined by our emerging Dragons players, with some attempting their first ever full round of golf. The younger Dragons players really enjoyed being out on the course and showed some real development as the round progressed. On a difficult course, laden with water traps, our younger Dragons showed real composure and produced some great shots, specifically around the greens. A chip in was close on more than one occasion!

Our Senior golfers were led by our Dragons coach CM and they decided to inject a bit of competition into their rounds. Here is a quick report from the team caption, Haymandhra Pillai:

The players at the dragons golf trials were treated to perfect weather conditions for scoring at TPC Kuala Lumpur on Friday and players took advantage of those conditions to shoot well in the first round. We played on the east course which is a parkland style course, with beautiful vibrant coloured landscaping. The length, layout and toughness of this course is designed to reward the intelligent golfer. The magnificent golf course features impeccable fairways and greens, challenging elevation changes and an environment that enhances the essence of the local terrain. At the top of the leaderboard for the boys we have Shanker Velu (+4): Shanker was superb on Friday. He hit 16-of-18 greens in regulation and needed only 26 putts to get around TPC as he was lights out with the flat stick. He has placed himself in great position after the first round for the year ahead.

With our first session including all age groups, we will now shift our focus to the senior squad to concentrate on the preparations for our SEASAC tournament in November. I hope all the participants enjoyed the round and I look forward to getting back on the course with everyone soon.

Coach Scott
